Dec. 17, 2019
I am profoundly saddened to share the news that James Stewart, a master’s student in entomology, died unexpectedly yesterday.
James joined Cornell in fall 2018 to study vector-bone diseases and how changing climate and land use patterns have influenced the range expansion of the West Nile virus mosquito vector. He loved the outdoors and was an avid rock climber who had scaled all 46 peaks in the Adirondacks.
As we struggle with this loss, I encourage anyone who may be in need of support to use the support services listed below. Community support meetings have been scheduled for Wednesday, December 18 at 10 a.m. in Comstock Hall 2123, and Monday, January 13 at 10 a.m. in Comstock Hall 2123.
On behalf of the Cornell community, I extend my sincere condolences to James’ family, friends and colleagues. Please keep them in your thoughts during this challenging time.
Sincerely,
Ryan Lombardi
Vice President for Student and Campus Life
