Financial aid for health-related costs

Nov. 12, 2015

This afternoon, President Garrett announced that for the 2017 fiscal year Cornell will include a $350 student healthcare allowance in Cost of Attendance and in financial aid calculations.

In addition, the university will move to semester billing of the student health fee: instead of one annual payment, students will be billed in two $175 increments.

The health fee was implemented in academic year 2015-16 as part of a funding model that supports comprehensive campus health services and ensures that all students have access to on-campus care, regardless of restrictions of their individual health insurance plans. Students enrolled in Cornell’s Student Health Plan contribute to the funding model through a portion of the SHP premium.
